To stay cool in the summer, your cooling system must be clean and properly charged. To achieve good air flow, the outside condenser unit must be free of grass trimming and leaves. Use a garden hose to gently spray the unit clean. It is always important to keep your air filter clean.

Air Conditioners have a S.E.E.R. rating (standard energy efficiency ratio) and should be sized by tonnage to your heating system. Up grades added to the unit will increase the S.E.E.R rating. In some installations, using a variable speed furnace may increase the rating.

10 S.E.E.R. and 12 S.E.E.R. units are the most common used but the 14 S.E.E.R. and 16 S.E.E.R. units are also popular. An inside evaporator coil is also needed in your system.

Air Conditioners can be added to an existing heating system as long as compatible units can be used. You also need to have adequate height clearance inside.
